The thesis project that I intend to
produce is an animation that will contain both traditional elements and digital
compositing, while still incorporating my aesthetics of handcrafted components
to create an intricately, detailed settings. I enjoy the aesthetic of materials
and it’s trace when photographed; it is the little details that interest me.
The idea of using tangible objects instead of digitally generated objects are
far more interesting to me, it demonstrations an amount of craftsmanship and
time that is put into creating the object, whereas something digital can easily
be produced and duplicated.
My thesis proposal is a stop motion animation
made completely out of paper. Using different methods of manipulating paper, I
will be combining both two-dimensional as the characters and three-dimensional elements
in the background. I wish to point out that by limiting my materials to paper,
does not limit the possibilities and the endless uses of paper. I find paper as
a versatile and intriguing material that comes in different forms, colours, and
thickness.
