Window Curtains

I was playing around with window coverings, I cant leave the windows as is because there is nothing really behind them and they are all 3 sided. So I wanted to have a fabric texture without having to use fabric because that defeats the my whole challenge of using just paper, so I experimented with white tissue paper; I tried folding and creasing the tissue paper but it didn't turn out how I wanted it, so then I started to crinkle and twist the tissue to make it less stiff and I am happy with the result. The only thing now is that I have to figure out other types of window coverings, I don't want all the curtains to be the same. 

Paper Threads: Sewing Test

I didn't get a chance to try out machine sewing because I couldn't find the foot petal until yesterday. So here are the photos and comparison between hand sewing and machine sewing.

(Yes I was sewing on the floor in an awkward position, so don't mind the messy sewing)

I like the hand sew better, the stiching is more dominate, and it looks better.

Paper Threads: Sewing Test

The beginning of my animation includes a close-up shot of an embroidered jean jacket, so I explored sewing onto paper as a form of detailing my animation further. I tried hand-sewing and machine-sewing (which I have done in another project) to see which is best for my animation. I wanted to try to hand-sew the paper to thicken the thread detail - a sewing machine only sews with a single thread, whereas hand-sewing, you can add more thread to thicken the stitches.

I also tried different ways to get paper to look like fabric.

I glued blue streamers onto paper.

 I also coloured on construction paper.

 When it came to hand-sewing, it wasn't easy, and I do not like how the stitches are not straight.

 I began hand-sewing with 2 threads, at the bottom. I didn't like how it was looking so I began sewing with 4 threads.

Bushes

I was trying out different ways to create 3D bushes so I "stole"  little paper ketchup cups from McDonalds and tried gluing pieces of green paper to it. In my head, it was a good idea but in actual form, its not that pretty.

I was also playing with the cups and formed this weird but cool shape, I dont know what I could use it for but I could always paint it and it is made out of paper.

Animal People: Pins or No Pins

I had made these over the summer intending to use them as a test--I wanted to know how well the paper puppets moved with the pins-- but I never got around to it.

I plan on creating them without the pins, I think they are too noticeable and distracting.
